You heard right - Saturday May 26 is officiallly Bill Plympton Day!
Celebrate with a week-long series of events to promote "Adventures in Plymptoons!" a documentary by director Alexia Anastasia, and producers Steve Tenhonen and Kevin Michaels. The cast of animators and other stars in this film is tremendous, and includes Will Vinton, Marilyn Zornado, Jim Blashfield, Walt Curtis, Mary Sandell, Stephanie Goldbloom, Tom Kenney (aka Spongebob Squarepants), Lloyd Kaufman, Ed Begley Jr., Keith Carradine, Hayley DuMond, Matthew Modine, Terry Gilliam, Weird Al Yankovic and more!
OMPA has partnered with McMenamins Theaters to present a week of premiers at 8 different, historic McMenamins Theatres in Oregon (and Centralia, WA), in a tour called "The Great Northwest Film Tour". Adventures in Plymptoons has been selected to kick off what we intend to be a regular collaboration to promote Oregon filmmakers and filmmaking. Set on the Oregon Trail in 1845, this film stars Michelle Williams, Zoe Kazan, Paul Dano and Bruce Greenwood as settlers on their way to build new lives in the Pacific Northwest. Directed by Kelly Reichardt, written by John Raymond, produced by Neil Kopp and Todd Haynes among others. Filmed entirely in Harney County, Oregon, the film is due to be releaseed in theaters in April and has been celebrated at the Venice, Toronto and Sundance Film Festivals.
This special screening celebrates the Oregon filmmaking community, and the special role that Oregon plays in this film. Every Oregon Legislator has been invited to join us, so don't miss this chance to raise awareness about our industry.
Tickets are $20 and proceeds benefit the Oregon Cultural Trust. Tickets are available at Tickets West, the Elsinore Theatre, and the Oregon Film office.

We'll be discussing the relationship of photography and videography in the era of converged capture devices, such as the Canon 5D Mark II.
The event is co-produced by ASMP, which represents professional still photographers. A panel including Gary Nolton, Tom Hassler, and Paula Webb among others will discuss best practices so that we are all doing our best for our clients. Topics also discussed will include how client billing works for both still and motion photography as well as addressing the differences in workflows.
