ABOUT : MEDIA ARTS EDUCATION FUND

The OMPA Media Arts Education Fund provides scholarships to further opportunities in the following fields: journalism, film, video, audio, photography and multi-media. Project- or program-based awards may include both cash and in-kind contributions of goods and or services. Scholarships are awarded in several classes:

Individual Educational Scholarship
Project-Based Scholarship
Scholastic Program Scholarship

New: Digital Media Commission

Objective
To encourage growth and creativity in Oregon's media production industry by providing financial assistance to those expanding their education and/or careers in a media related field.

Review
Media Arts Education Fund awards are reviewed and selected by a panel of industry professionals from the Oregon Media Production Association and other qualified members of the local media industry. Submissions are evaluated, and awards granted based on one or more of the following criteria:

   1. Artistic and or community value of project
   2. Financial need
   3. Overall quality of submission
   4. Realistic plan for completion
   5. Record of achievement

Digital Media Commission candidates will be nominated by a sponsoring instructor from their educational institution, and selected based on the specific criteria of that program.

OMPA employees and Board of Directors are ineligible for the scholarships or Digital Media Commission (except as a sponsoring instructor).


Scholarship awards typically range from $300 to $1000. Digital Media Commission is $2,500, which includes $500 stipend for sponsoring instructor.


To Submit

All materials must be submitted, no earlier than January 15th of each year and no later than application deadline of May 31st.
