Board members are elected to 2-year terms to serve on the OMPA Board of Directors. New board members will be installed at the OMPA Annual Meeting on January 27th, 6pm at the Hollywod Theatre in Portland.
OMPA Individual & Firm members are eligible to vote; only 1 vote is counted for each Firm member. (Not eligible to vote: Associate members, Add-on members, Student members and non-OMPA members. Add-on members should voice their preferences to their sponsoring firm member.)

Tim Troester, Hays Companies
Tim Troester currently serves as Vice President and National Entertainment Practice Leader for Hays Companies of Oregon. Since joining Hays he has developed and launched the Entertainment Practice, which focuses on providing education and consultation in managing risk in media and entertainment. Tim and Hays Companies have been active participants and supporters of the OMPA Final Cut Classic golf tournament. Tim's desire as a Board member is to provide support and consult and help take OMPA to the next level.
Michael Ratozza, Bullivant Houser Bailey
Mike Ratoza practices Copyright and Trademark law at Bullivant Houser Bailey in Portland. Mike's legal objectives are to assist clients to grow their business and protect their intellectual property assets. As a board member, Mike lends expertise and helps open opportunities for OMPA and OMPA members to reach the broader business community.
Michael Bard, Studio Bard
Michael Bard has spent the last 20 years in the Northwest as a composer, professional musician, audio post production engineer and principal of Studio Bard. Michael scores music for TV and radio, along with acting as Sound Supervisor for many feature length films. His work has been Oscar nominated, and twice received advertising’s highest honor, the Clio. Michael's commitment to the development of the production industry is exemplified by his work on the OMPA board, where he has been a valuable resource for business development, including chairing the Final Cut Classic Golf Tournament.
New Board Nominees
Dennis Noreen, Strategy Insurance
Dennis Noreen has been in the insurance business since 1996, specializing in company benefits. He is a huge fan of film, music, documentaries and other media (especially locally shot, recorded or produced). Dennis currently serves as president of a local adult developmentally challenged facility and has served on that board since 1999. Dennis has been active in OMPA since 2007 helping as an ambassador and sharing advice with regards to the association insurance program. He has spoken at many events including the OMPA health panel this past September. He volunteers and works in conjunction with OMPA on events to help to make sure they go smoothly. Being active in the community, he has been able to invite on a first name basis government officials to events like the Oregon Film Annual Meeting.
Nathaniel Applefield, AFTRA
Current Chair of OMPA’s Government Affairs Committee and Executive Director of AFTRA Portland Local. In 2004, Nathaniel started a career in political organizing and worked on 22 different campaigns across the country (mostly in Oregon) before taking a position with the American Federation of Television and Radio Artists as National Representative for the Pacific Northwest in March of 2011. During the 2011 Oregon Legislative Session, Nathaniel put his political background and contacts to good use, lobbying on behalf of OPIF. Now, Nathaniel is working to build OMPA’s grassroots lobbying power around the state by forming a structure of leaders who will connect with their legislators in a meaningful and useful way.
Janet McIntyre, Mount Hood Community College
Janet McIntyre received her MFA in Film from New York University, Tisch School of the Arts and is currently the Dean of Integrated Media, Visual and Performing Arts at Mt. Hood Community College. She is on the Board of Women in Oregon Community Colleges and a member of Film Action Oregon. Janet has encouraged and advocated for greater student involvement in OMPA, has served on numerous OMPA scholarship committees, has been an active member of the Filmmakers Stakeholders group for more than five years, and actively participated in the campaigns for the state tax incentive (including testifying before the legislature on behalf of film and education at this year's OPIF hearings in Salem). An award-winning director and producer, Janet's documentary COVERED GIRLS, about Muslim American teenage girls in post 9-11 New York, aired on SHOWTIME and played at festivals worldwide. She recently completed her first feature entitled FADED: Girls + Binge Drinking, which screened at the 38th Northwest Filmmakers’ Festival last year.
Dave Spraker, Advanced Broadcast Systems
Dave runs the Portland office of Advanced Broadcast Solutions (ABS), and brings a great perspective of equipment provision for television broadcasters as well as all areas of video and post production. Production by and for television stations is a very large part of Oregon's industry [approx. $300 million of the approx. $700 million annually (2007)] and OMPA will benefit from Dave's involvement with television broadcasters and the vendors who serve them. Dave's professional experience and personal demeanor are suited to help OMPA make further introductions to that aspect of the industry, and broaden OMPA's advocacy for media production in the state. Dave was a driving force behind the Cascade Mountain Video Show for 10 years. He has a degree in broadcasting from Washington State University, and has worked at television stations throughout the Northwest (including KGW for 8 years) prior to working at ABS.
Continuing on the board for the second year of their term are: Lisa Cicala (Mercy Corps), Ryan Crisman (Read Entertainment), Susan Haley (Paydogs LLC), Stefan Henry-Biskup (Liquid Development), Jeanna Minshall (Chambers Productions) Christopher Toyne (Freelance producer and actor), James WilderHancock (LAIKA and freelance producer).
OMPA Awards of Excellence -
Nominations for 2012 Awards of Excellence is now closed. Awards of Excellence winners will be announced at the OMPA Annual Meeting on Friday, January 27, 2012.
Nominations are now open for the 2013 Awards of Excellence.

The OMPA Awards recognize outstanding members of Oregon’s film, video and multimedia industry. Awards categories are:
Rising Star
An individual who has demonstrated great potential, initiative and the qualities that will make them a successful part of the creative and media production community.
Service and Inspiration
For the individual or team that has made a substantial contribution to the betterment of the community. This could be a contribution of time or talent, such as a public service production or other effort.
Award of Excellence
Recognizes an individual who has reached the highest level of excellence, craftsmanship and integrity and has helped set the bar for professionalism in Oregon’s industry.
Only OMPA Members may make nominations for the Award of Excellence. Nominees do not need to be OMPA members however.
