Oregon just might be the healthiest place there is to film a movie. The scene is fresh, the talent is naturally abundant and the soil is fertile for organic collaboration with creative and technically-savvy story tellers.
Oregon's rich history includes producing some of the world’s finest films and filmmakers, from The Fisherman’s Bride (shot in Astoria way back in 1908) and The General (starring Buster Keaton and considered one of the 15 best films of all time) to the more recent works of the filmmakers listed below.
Here are some highlights of a few of the films from Oregon’s independent—and not so independent—film community. Celebrate the local harvest of Oregon filmmaking by buying or renting a copy for yourself.
